The Narcotics Division of the Maumelle Police Department is the fastest growing division within the department, doubled in size 2006.

This division is responsible combating the narcotics problem within the City of Maumelle. Stopping the trafficking and manufacturing of narcotics in the city and arresting those in possession of illegal narcotics is the goal of this division.

Members of the Narcotics Division must be capable of "putting on many faces". From undercover work to interviewing suspects, members of the Narcotics Division are required to be versatile in both appearance and personality.

Narcotics is the least noticed division within the department for many reasons. Most work is done in unmarked vehicle and in plain clothes. The faces of the officers are never made public. The work they conduct is kept very confidential to insure the safety of both the officers and informants.

Although the work of the narcotics division is not often seen, the results are. The narcotics problem, though not eliminated, is kept to a minimum thanks to this special group of officers.

METH LABS NUMBERS DOWN

The number of meth lab arrests is down in 2006 from 2005. This is due, in part, to the federal government regulating the sell of drugs containing ephedrine. This is also a result of the enforcement efforts of the MPD Narcotics Division.
